TEAMLEAD WAREHOUSE

Teamworker, service oriented, logistical understanding, can do mentality

So we are looking for a Teamlead Warehouse for the Outbound department for our European Distribution Centre (EDC) in Veghel. You will be responsible for managing, monitoring and controlling the daily order flow (inbound and outbound for odd sizes) for timely, complete and correct delivery of goods for distribution to customers. In this role, you will work closely with the other Teamleads and if necessary you are the back up to the Teamlead Picking, Packing, or Inbound. In our season from March to September, it’s all hands on deck. Then you start up the improvement projects, so that we get off to an even better start in the next season. You manage a team of between 8 – 20 people (permanent and flexible). The EDC employs 45 permanent staff and we also have a flexible workforce, which can reach 50 people during the season. In this position, you will report to the Warehouse Manager.

WHAT WILL YOU DO, WHAT ARE YOUR CAPABILITIES?

  • Managing the team, dividing work, instructing employees
  • Supervising the qualitative and quantitative execution of work
  • Monitoring and discussing KPIs and implementing improvements based on them
  • Processing and consolidating orders and preparing them for dispatch
  • Managing the flow of incoming goods
  • Managing the day to day operations including resolving issues in the field of safety, atmosphere, quality, cost and on time delivery
  • Backing up fellow Teamleads
  • Coaching and inspiring employees, ensuring a good working atmosphere
  • Holding and participating in work meetings
  • Together with planning ensure proper staffing in the department
  • Contributing to compliance with company, environmental, health and safety and quality regulations

WHAT DOES AN AVERAGE WORKING DAY LOOK LIKE?

Together with your team you put the customer first. Of course, it starts with good planning and staffing. Not enough staff? Then you call in the Planning department for sufficient capacity. Every Thursday the staffing for the following week is ready and then, of course, it’s adjusting. In the department, you make sure everyone knows what to do. From instructing to delegating. In this, you are supported by the assistant Teamlead and coordinators. At the stroke of 10 am you take part in a stand up meeting with the other Teamleads in the EDC. What is going to happen? How are we going to do it? How can we help each other? Of course, it is important to measure performance. The annually determined KPI set is your dashboard on which you (re)steer. What improvements in processes and working methods are possible? Last but not least is safety in the warehouse. You ensure that everyone obeys the rules. Better safe than sorry. If no incidents occur you can even earn a nice bonus for that.

CHECKLIST: SKILLS AND CAPABILITIES

Can do is one. Your qualifications will do the rest. We ask the following:

  • MBO4+ working and thinking level in the field of logistics
  • At least 5 years’ experience in managing teams, preferably in a logistics environment, and demonstrable results in motivating and inspiring leadership
  • Based on your experience you know how to separate main issues from side issues
  • You are service oriented, a teamworker, who is also able to work independently, and stress resistant
  • Excellent communication skills are a must
  • You use the KPIs as your compass
  • You have worked with a warehouse management system, preferably Astro by Consafe
  • In addition to Dutch, you are fluent in English, both spoken and written; German is an advantage
  • LEAN green belt certified or in training or comparable
