Logistics Manager for our International DC in Poland

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Logistics Manager for our brand-new international DC in Poznan. As MegaGroup is an expanding company, we are building a new DC for the North-East European market next to our existing central DC in The Netherlands. The DC is a modern semi-automated warehouse storing 10.000 SKU’s and handling another 20.000 non stock SKU’s.

You start with the current team of 12 warehouse employees, but the team will rapidly expand by another 30-40 employees. As the new DC will open at the end of 2022, you deliver a direct contribution in operationalizing the DC in close cooperation with the implementation project team realizing the daily customer shipments. Once out of the starting blocks you will work daily on realizing continuous improvement of the processes in alignment with the DC in the Netherlands. You are building and directly supervising a team up to five Team leads and you work in close cooperation with the colleagues of the Warehouse Support Teams at HQ in the Netherlands. You report to the International Warehouse Manager of MegaGroup Logistic Services in The Netherlands. Although there will be frequent contact, both on line and on site in Poland or in The Netherlands, this job requires a high level of independency. Bevo Poland will be one of your customers and the sales team in question is situated at your DC being a direct link to MegaGroup’s business.

WHAT WILL YOU DO, WHAT ARE YOUR CAPABILITIES?

  • you are responsible for the efficient and effective realization of the incoming and outgoing good flows;
  • operationalizing the new DC entails a whole new ballgame: new equipment and Warehouse Management System (WMS), new employees, new customers and new countries, new suppliers and transporters, etc.;
  • you manage multiple functions independently, such as facilities and warehouse equipment, dealing with transport companies, solving IT issues with (local/ HQ) support and third parties;
  • by initiating and implementing improvements for the realization of an optimal warehouse layout and goods flow, you deliver an important contribution to the growth strategy of MegaGroup;
  • improving procedures and working methods by analyzing and solving issues is part of the job; you build on the realization of a continuous improvement culture;
  • you monitor the agreed KPI’s and take care of the corresponding reports, you prioritize and redirect where needed;
  • you take care of health and safety rules, environmental regulations and working conditions and a clean well-organized warehouse;
  • as a people manager you coach, train and motivate your team leads;
  • you are responsible for hiring, training and deployment of the fixed and flexible (warehouse) capacity.

WHAT DOES AN AVERAGE WORKING DAY LOOK LIKE?

At 10:00 a.m. sharp you have a stand up meeting with the Team leads. How are we doing? What needs to be done today? What are the points of attention? What is needed for that? How are we going to do that? It all happens in the warehouse and you can be found there every day. Together with your team, you put the interest of the customer first. This means that you have daily contact with colleagues from the sales organizations within MegaGroup for an optimal logistic performance. You make sure that everyone on the floor knows the objectives. The high season is from March to August and your team does everything to get the operational job done. The rest of the year you work hard on improvement processes such as system adjustments, warehouse redesign and the implementation of continuous improvement working methods. This way you get everyone ready for the new season to do even better next year.

CHECKLIST: SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Can do approach is essential. Your qualifications do the rest. We ask following:

  • bachelor degree in the field of supply chain is required;
  • a proven track record in leadership of at least 4 years in a similar position in a logistics environment;
  • you are service-oriented, a team worker, stress resistant and you are a motivating and inspiring leader;
  • excellent communication skills are a must;
  • in-depth knowledge of logistics processes, warehouse layout and warehouse management systems (our WMS is Astro from Consafe);
  • in addition to the Polish language, you master the English language both orally and in writing;
  • experience with LEAN is a plus..

By centralizing stocks and distribution, it is possible to serve the many thousands of customers of the group faster and with a much larger product range.
